Online Music: Katy Perry

Katheryn Elizabeth Hudon better known as Katy Perry, is an American singer-songwriter and musician. She was born October 25, 1984 and raised in Santa Barbara by Christian pastor parents and grew up listening only to gospel music. Katy rose to fame in 2007 with internet hit "Ur So Gay", and later scored in 2008 her breakthrough single "I Kissed A Girl".

At the age of 15, Katy's singing in church attracted the attention of rock veterans from Nashville, Tennessee, who brought her there to polish her writing skills. In Nashville, she started recording demos and was taught by country music veterans on how to craft songs and play guitar. Katy Perry signed to the Christian music label Red Hill, under which she recorded her first album at the age of 15. Using her real name, Katy Hudson, she released the self-titled Gospel-rock album in 2001. The album was unsuccessful, however, after the label ceased. She later changed her surname to Perry, her mother's maiden name, because "Katy Hudson" was too close to film actress Kate Hudson.

Among Katy Perry's musical influences are Alanis Morissette, Cyndi Lauper, Pat Benatar, Joan Jett, Shirley Manson, and Freddie Mercury, the late frontman of the British band Queen. Growing up listening to gospel music, Katy had few references when she began recording songs.

In 2004, she recored an album with production team The Matrix, but it was never released. After signing on with Capitol Music Group in 2007, she took on stage name Katy Perry and released her first mainstream album, One of the Boys.

Katy is known for her unconventional style of dress. It is often humorous, bright in color, and reminiscent of different decades, and frequently uses fruit-shaped accessories, primarily watermelon, as part of her outfits. Her dark hair is signature to her look, but, as the music video to "Ur So Gay" shows, her hair is naturally blonde and she dyed her hair and eyebrows a darker color.

Having learned dancing at an early age, she fancied about having her own style. Katy's transformation into an artist began with fashion, inspired by American film actress Dominique Swain's portrayal in 1997 film adaptation of the novel Lolita. She defines her fashion "a bit of a concoction of different things". Johnny Wujek, Katy's stylist, described her style, upon meeting her for the first time, as "very colorful and vintage". Her fashion has caught the attention of designers, who were giving her nearly as much attention as fans of her music.

Ms.Kelly: Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland is an American singer, songwriter, dancer, actress, model and television host. She rose to fame with the success of Destiny's Child during the late '90s. During that time, Destiny's Child catapulted into the new millennium as one of the best-selling female musical groups in history that sold more than 50 million records worldwide.

During the interval of the group, Kelly Rowland collaborated with rapper Nelly on the single "Dilemma", a worldwide number-one hit, and released her rock pop-influenced debut solo album Simply Deep in 2002. It became a commercial success, selling more than two million copies worldwide, and garnered three more or less successful singles, among "Stole" and "Can't Nobody". Following the formal disbandment of Destiny's Child in 2005, Kelly's often-delayed second album, was released in 2007. Moderately successful on the charts, it spawned the hit singles "Like This" and "Work".

In February 2009 a duet with Italian singer Tiziano Ferro, "Breathe Gentle," this was released as a single in early 2009 and reached the top ten of the Dutch Singles Chart. Kelly Rowland ended her professional relationship with both manager Mathew Knowles and former label Columbia Records in order to explore other ventures. Although she’s currently still between labels and doesn't have concrete plans for another solo album, she hinted that her next effort may be affected by her collaboration on "When Love Takes Over," the lead single of David Guetta's upcoming album One Love. They performed the song in the recent Ms. Universe 2009.

Music Videos: Beyonce
One of the most well-known characters in modern-day R&B, Beyoncé first rose to fame as the siren-voiced centerpiece of Destiny's Child before embarking on a multi-platinum solo career in 2001. Booming record sales, Grammy awards, movie roles, and a romance with rapper/CEO Jay-Z combined to heighten her profile in the 2000s, making the singer a virtual mainstay in the entertainment world. While some media outlets derisively championed Paris Hilton as "the next Marilyn Monroe," Beyoncé was a much better contender for the role, her glittering pop culture persona only matched by her success onscreen and on record.

Beyonce's most hotly anticipated new album releases of 2008's , I AM… SASHA FIERCE is her first new studio collection since her Grammy-winning multi-platinum-selling B'Day debuted at 1 on charts around the world shortly after its international release on September 4, 2006 (in celebration of BeyoncĂ©'s 25th birthday). Each of the discs on BeyoncĂ©'s new double album reveals a distinctly different side of her personality, character and sensibility, a forum for the yin-and-yang of her developing artistry.

One of the discs, titled I AM…, provides BeyoncĂ© with a musical showcase for a group of intimate heartfelt ballads while the SASHA FIERCE disc gives voice to BeyoncĂ©'s up-tempo dance-oriented other side.

"SASHA FIERCE is my alter ego," says BeyoncĂ©, "and now she has a last name. I have someone else that takes over when it's time for me to work and when I'm on stage, this alter ego that I've created that kind of protects me and who I really am. That's why half the record, I AM…, is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the lights, and underneath all the exciting star drama. And SASHA FIERCE is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm on the stage. The double album allows me to take more risks and really step out of myself, or shall I say, step more into myself, and reveal a side of me that people only know me see."

online music: michael jacksonIt was a shocking Thursday, June 25, when the news dispersed that Michael Jackson passed away because of cardiac arrest at the age of 50. It was a devastating news not only to his fans but most especially to his family. M.J is an icon not only for Americans but also worldwide. Most of his songs are smashed hits. His music are superb and loved by everyone. As one of the big fan of M.J., my dearest condolences to the family as well as to my fellow M.J fanatics

Michael Jackson was one of the great music heroes of the late 20th century. A superstar who spanned pop, disco and MTV. At the age of 11, M.J became a singing star. He had four consecutive #1 hits with his youthful band of brothers, The Jackson Five. He went solo in 1972 with the album Got to Be There and embraced the glitter of disco with Off the Wall (1979). After his smash 1982 album Thriller yielded seven top-ten hits (including "Billie Jean" and "Beat It"), M.J was dubbed "The King of Pop." Michael Jackson was an early star of MTV and an international hitmaker. His distinctive wardrobe featured glittery suits and pseudo-military uniforms matched with the single white glove was became his signature. M.J was also made a signature dance move, the sliding reverse stroll known as the "moonwalk."

Michael Jackson's next album, Bad, topped the charts in 1987. Then his eccentric lifestyle began to overwhelm his recording career, and Michael became a favorite of the gossip sheets. In 1994 he married Lisa Marie Presley, the daughter of Elvis (a.k.a. "The King"), but they divorced in 1996. Also common news 'bout M.J's are his long series of cosmetic surgeries, rumors of exotic pets and superstar peccadilloes at Neverland (M.J ranch estate), followed by another brief marriage to Deborah Rowe (1996-99) and multiple accusations of inappropriate conduct with children.

In 2005 he was tried on charges of child molestation and conspiracy related to his relationship with a 13-year-old boy. M.J was acquitted on all charges after a trial that year. He became increasingly reclusive, appearing in public only behind sunglasses, tinted car windows and silk face masks. Reports of lavish spending and unpaid bills became standard fare.

Michael Jackson popped back up in London in 2009 to announce a new series of 50 performances in the city's O2 Arena but unfortunately, the concerts will not take place. There is a bitter-sweet part that I've realized when somebody famous died. Just like M.J, who have reached the pinnacle of success of in the music business, it always see an outpouring of sympathy when he died because of the sheer number of fans he leave behind. But there is more to it. It also reminds us all that life is short and all the money and fame in the world won't stop death. In the most tragic cases it also proves that money and fame cannot buy happiness. Again, my dearest sympathy to the Jackson family and to my fellow fanatics out there.
